Our forth day in Uganda we visited Amecet orphanage, a orphanage runned by a dutch who mainly help children with HIV/AIDS. For starter we got to interact with this dutch lady for some time, then she showed us a movie about the orphanage. That movie made a big impression on each and every one of us. What was shown for us was the destinies of some children who had stayed in the orphanage for a time. Some died and some moved back to their families. After this we had time to play with the children living in the orphanage and that was a real highlight during the trip I think.
Me and my friends gave the children bubbles which they seemed to appreciate.
Here I hold some cute little babies.
This little fellow swallowed everything that came in his way. Both soil, cookies and bubbles.
These children have many reasons to be unhappy. Often their parents are dead or their families don't want to take care of them. Often they have a disease like HIV/AIDS and malnutrition who force them into a everyday struggle. But despite that they are the happiest children I ever met. They had so much energy and they smiled during the whole time we were there. Yes, this visit was something extraodinary that I will never forget.
